Hey Everyone!
At the end of the Teaser video we shared last week (see here if you did not watch it yet https://medium.com/@continuumworld/in-a-metaverse-far-far-away-530b619b945f) we introduced a creature which brought a lot of attention and many people have asked us about.
Meet… (introduction sounds playing) … the Birdums !
The Birdum is a unique species from Continuum World, and one of the most attractive NFT of the game. They are portrayed as galliform birds, with different colors and variations depending on the type, that makes them unique.
Their primary role is acting as transportation for the player across the world map, travelling faster and accessing new areas. Additionally, they will be used to compete in PVP races that add revenues to the player
Hunting a Birdum:
The Birdums are rare specimens that are usually hidden and players need to first use a Birdum radar to detect the areas of the map where they are hidden. Once you are in the correct area players can use some food (they love candy) to attract the Birdums in the area or even special glasses if they are invisible. Finally, to catch the Birdum the player must use a Vacuum3000, a tool similar to a vacuum that will absorb the Birdum into a backpack tank, that has a limit of capacity of Birdums to storage. Birdum will try to run away if they see you, and stronger ones will resist and fight against the Vacuum3000, so the player may need to use additional objects and tools for a successful hunt.
Breeding Birdums:
In addition to hunting you can get new Birdums by breeding. You will need two Birduums of different sex and a land with a breeding farmyard. Alternatively, you could also bring the Bridums to a Breeder in a town, and pay for the service. Breeding will take time and luck depending on the compatibility between the two Birdums. The result will be an egg that requires more effort from the player: each egg will ask for a specific combination of resources (receipt) to hatch it. The new Birdum will take attributes from the father and the mother.
Train Birdums:
Wild Birdums are in low levels and newborn Birdums are always in level 1. Players need to train them to level-up and increase their stats. There are different ways to train a Birdum:
‘Burning’ other birdums: the fastest and more effective way to level-up a birdum is giving to it other birdums that you don’t want to use. Depending on the attributes and quality of the burned birdum the training result will be more or less effective.
Potions and foods: Crafting special potions will also boost birdum stats. Depending on the type of potion will increase some specific stats.
Nursing: Taking care of your birdums will increase their affinity for you and their morale. You can make them happy by offering gifts, sweets, with a playground in your land or just by being with them and using them in the game.
Birdum Racing:
They are strategic PVP real-time races of 3 Birdums. The race consists of the 3 Birdums running in a linear track with obstacles and power-ups. Each Birdum has different stats that influence the race: maximum speed, acceleration, stamina, jump, shield, morale,… Also, each Birdum has 3 abilities to be used by the player at any time during the race, consuming energy that gets refilled little by little with time. Additionally, they have 2 passive abilities that work automatically without consuming any energy. On top of that the Birdums and the attacks are from 4 different types that can be more or less effective against each other: Plant, Water, Fire and Rock
Players will have to use their movements strategically, managing their energy and looking at their rivals abilities and types too. Random power-ups and obstacles will add a luck component to the race.
Around the Birdum races the game will propose different championships, tournaments and special events with big prizes.
That is all for now, I hope you like it as we do!!
